POLYVINYLCHLORIDE (PVC) SIGNS
-
These are commonly
known as Sinra Signs. Sinra is a brand name now synonymous with all PVC signs.
PVC sheets are made of polyvinylchloride foam that has hardened. It is light and
rigid thus ideal material for point-of-purchase (POP), displays, exhibits, and
graphic arts applications. It comes in sizes from 3mm up to 25mm. It is
available in a variety of colors.

Thinner sheets are
generally used for indoor signs because they can get brittle in the cold
weather. However, thicker PVC boards can be used as a replacement to outdoor
wood (MDO) signs because it weathers better than wood. It will not rot, or crack
like wood but will warp under extreme conditions. PVC can easily be routed,
drilled, sawed, and glued just like wood using most conventional equipment and
adhesives.
- Nimon Signs uses a ½” thick material for a 18”x 24" sign as is preferable to wood as it holds up better to the wet weather.
PVC is available in thickness up to 1” thick (white only) which is the
thickness we would use for a 4ft x 8 ft sign which has to be around for a long
time.
